Deliverable B as has been posted on the web

May 17, 1999

Please review the data flow diagram and ERD, and e-mail me if there are any suggestions.

And please e-mail me the updated version of data dictionary for DFD and ERD.

Following are the links to the Data Flow Diagrams and Database Schema:

Data Flow Diagram

The functional decomposition model also shows external processes and data stores. We are using Cool Gen for Data Flow Diagrams, and it does not allow creating data flows if it is not linked to any other process, data store or external agent. We do understand that the functional decomposition models should not show external processes, data store, or external agents, but it is one of the limitation of the CASE tool we are using.

We do have a meeting on Monday in CSTC 400 lab @ 6'o clock

Meeting with Danny.

Danny suggested some changes in ERD, we had finalized a day before. We need to have a serperate entity to keep record of the persons entertained, their company name, and their business relationship with Mid-Co. The relationship between Expense Detail and this new entity would be one to many. There will be three primary keys (compund) - Expense ID, Expense Detail ID, and Persons Entertained. This Expense ID and Expense Detail ID are also foreign keys. The other attributes are Company name and Business relationship.

The attributes Amount Approved and Date Reimbursed should be a part of Expense Detail Entity. The reason being the company might reimburse the expenses partially to employees.

Everything else looks fine in ERD.

Natalya is working on Database Schema, she will e-mail the final copy by Monday evening.

Kumud is working on Functional Decomposition, and will email the final copy by Monday.

Things that have to be done before Deliverable B are:

  • Screens (to be finalized in meeting on Monday- 05/17)
  • Reports for Dept. Manager, Finance Manager, and Exec. management (Monday- 05/17).
  • Crud Analysis (Tuesday - 05/18).

And One suggestion. - we should meet with Danny, and discuss the final version of out deliverable on Thursday before or after the class.

And pls email me the final copies by Friday 0300, so that I can post it on the web.
